The lighthouse symbolises a way forward and help in navigating through the world… it symbolises an inclusive guide to more safer waters, especially in the face of adversity. You do not land at the lighthouse, but you will be more able to steer your own boat to a safer or better place. Sometimes you just need a bit of guidance and compassion and a welcoming place to reflect on overcoming challenges that you have encountered in yourself, your workplace or that life has thrown at you.
“Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It’s a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognise our shared humanity.” Pema Chödrön.
Having been trained in individual and family therapy and applied Personality Psychology, Anna facilitated many corporate training and education sessions in organisations from an Occupational Health perspective: Workshops and courses about personal effectiveness, how to deal with trauma at work, team-building, team analysis and coaching for managers. Health psychology in all its facets and work related problems are particular concerns of her and so are experiences of trauma, depression and anxiety and how to manage these in a work situation. Anna has recently done more training as a mindful self compassion teacher and now teaches Mindful self-compassion for doctors and nurses.
After I moved to the UK from the Netherlands I have had an opportunity to learn and experience a lot about trust, community & compassion. Since starting practicing mindfulness in 2010 and later self-compassion I have personally found this very beneficial and nourishing, especially during a time when my life was extremely stressful. As a mindfulness teacher my ability for patience, reflection and integrity has refined and widened. I like to create a compassionate space for each person to be. People feel therefore they can benefit from my listening skills in a safe group space when recovering, discovering and becoming who you already are. If you are interested in coaching sessions, or counselling, or want to participate in a mindfulness course or drop in; email me via the pre-booking tab, or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
I adhere to the UK Network for Mindfulness-Based Teachers Good practice guidelines for teaching mindfulness-based courses. I also adhere to professional guidelines including: the British Psychological Society (BPS) Generic Professional Practice Guidelines, and the BPS Code of Ethics and Conduct. I have a current checked enhanced DBS.
